The Smyth County School Board met today in a called meeting at 7:00 p.m., at the Smyth Career & Technology Center, 147 Fox Valley Road, Marion, Virginia.
Chairman Jesse Choate called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone.
The roll was called by the clerk, and all Board members were present.
Two citizens of the community spoke in regards to their preference for qualifications of the new Superintendent.
For clarification purposes, Dr. Grinstead explained to those present, the reason behind utilizing the VSBA for the Superintendent search.
The Board considered the desired qualifications for the Superintendent candidates. On motion by Mr. Veselik, seconded by Mrs. Williams, by 7-0 vote, the Board approved the use of the sample announcement for the Superintendent position, provided by the VSBA, with only a few minor changes.
