The Smyth County School Board met today at 5:30 P.M., for a scheduled meeting with the following members present: Laura Hall, Roger Nipper, Susan Sneed, Charles Doane, and Jerry Catron. The meeting was held to work on the 2005-2006 school board budget. Mr. Catron, Vice-chairman, presided.
Mr. Sullivan updated the board on the budget development and procedures for adoption.
The board reviewed the distribution of sales tax for the past three years.
Mr. Sullivan reviewed projected revenue figures for 2005-2006.
Mr. Sullivan reviewed major expenditures and changes in the budget for next year.
Mr. Sullivan walked the board through Draft #2 of the 2005-2006 school board budget. He reviewed salary increases for all employees.
Mr. Sullivan discussed plans for adoption of the budget.
On motion by Mr. Doane, seconded by Ms. Sneed, the board voted unanimously to continue this meeting on March 21, 2005, at 5:30 P.M., to discuss any further questions about the budget for next year.
