Minutes of the May 26th, 2004 meeting of the Smyth County School Board, as approved by the School Board at its June 14th, 2004 meeting

The Smyth County School Board met today at 5:00 P.M., with all members present for a called meeting in advance of a joint budget meeting with the Smyth County Board of Supervisors.

The school board decided to set the public hearing on the 2004-2005 school board budget for June 8, 2004, at 11:00 A.M.

On motion by Mr. Catron, seconded by Mr. Doane, the board voted unanimously to adopt the proposed draft 2004-2005 school board budgets.

On motion by Mrs. Clark, seconded by Mrs. Hall, the school board meeting was then adjourned at 5:30 P.M., to the joint budget meeting with the Smyth County Board of Supervisors.

Mr. Sullivan reviewed goals, priorities, and accomplishments of Smyth County Schools.

Mr. Sullivan discussed the status of the school board deficit.

Mr. Sullivan reviewed with both boards the following budget information: 2004-2005 Expenditure Budget Draft; Revenue comparison for the County School Operating Fund and County School Debt and Capital Outlay Fund; Proposed School Board Budget; Graphic comparisons of 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 revenues and expenditures; County School Debt and Capital Outlay Fund Budget; School Textbook Fund Budget; and a draft copy of the 2004-2005 County School Operating Fund and County School Debt and Capital Outlay Budgets.

The Smyth County Board of Supervisors received the County School Operating Fund Budget in the amount of $40,312,988; the County School Debt and Capital Outlay Fund Budget in the amount of $1,586,868; and the School Textbook Fund Budget in the amount of $504,033.

Mr. Choate thanked the Smyth County Board of Supervisors.

The meeting was then adjourned.
