"Teaching is not something I do "for" the student, nor is it something I do "to" the student. Teaching only happens when it is done "with" the student!"

Marketing

Marketing Education is probably the best kept "secret" at CHS and NHS. We earn while we learn. Our motto is: "We Learn By Doing!"

  1. Mr. Roberts will be observing students on-the-job, discussing students' progress on-the-job with their managers, planning lessons, and documenting marketing program activities.
  2. Mr. Roberts teaches a job search method that helps each student learn to find employment at entry level. The student learns how to maintain employment by developing and enhancing soft skills including: getting along with co-workers and supervisors, serving customers, demonstrating proper attitudes on the job, managing time and setting priorities, being a good citizen, etc.
  3. The students study how to advance on a career lattice and get advice on building a solid employment and financial future.

A Day in the Life of Our Class

A day in marketing class begins with the students logging their hours and wages while Mr. Roberts checks roll. Class begins with an opening thought and an idea of what will be learned for the day. The students are assigned today's tasks and get busy. Depending on the topic and activity, the students and the teacher will act together to create a unique and productive learning experience. There is always time to interject on-the-job experiences and personal observations by the students and the teacher. Most days are very enjoyable.

Marketing Coop

Coop students report for work at their respective training stations. Each Coop student works an average of 15 hours per week throughout the year practicing what they have learned in class. This is considered their "homework". Coop students get to "earn while they learn"!
