SCTC Mascot

SCTC's New Mascot

SCTC recently adopted its first mascot, the Riverhawks. This is named after the river that runs beside the Career Center and the Riverhawks that nest in the trees.

February - CTE Month - “Celebrate Today, Own Tomorrow.”

February is designated as Career & Technical Education (CTE) Month across Virginia. This is a copy of the 2018 Proclamation for Virginia's CTE Month signed by Governor Ralph S. Northam. This year’s theme is “Celebrate Today, Own Tomorrow.”

Parent Group Emails

SCTC is in the process of creating a Parent Group Email Account for our parents/guardians in order to better communicate with the students' families. If you would like to receive emails from SCTC, please send your email information to teresasurber@scsb.org. Please state the name or names of your children and their grades & programs they are taking, as well as, your email address and name. Thank you for your help in this matter.

School Bucks Educational Program

You must sign up each year to help SCTC, using your Food City Value Card, for the Food City School Bucks Educational Program 2017-2018. The Program runs from September 2017 to May 2018. Thanks for supporting SCTC!

SCTC - LPN Program Ranked 12th in State

It was just released from the "PracticalNursing.org" group that SCTC's LPN Program is ranked 12th in the State of Virginia out of about 70 Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) programs state-wide. Read more about "Becoming an LPN in Virginia".

SCTC Students - Graduate

SCTC 2017 Graduates

Tuesday, May 16, at 7pm, the SCTC students Graduation was held in the CHS Auditorium. Mr. Rick Blevins, Principal/CTE Director, presented honor cords to the 10 honor grads from each program. The 10 honor grads gave short speaches about the programs they completed. Mrs. Connie Wyatt, JVG Specialist, called the graduates names to receive their diplomas.

SCTC Students - Tour Utility Plant

SCTC Students tour Utility Plant in Glade Spring, VA

Several students from SCTC toured the Utility facility in Glade Spring, VA. While there, they listened to a presentation about the company. Several employees discussed their jobs and all of the benefits of working with the company. Then, the students were able to tour the whole facility.

SCTC now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 school year!! Dead line for the LPN program deadline for the LPN program for post-grads for the upcoming year is Friday, February 23, 2018. High school students who will be seniors when taking the course will have an extended deadline date because they have priority over students that have already graduated.

Applications are available for download from this website or you may pick one up in the office.

The Virginia Department of Education has published a listing of Web-Based Resources for Internet Safety in Schools.

The Virginia Department of Education recommended several sites concerning internet safety. These sites address internet awareness resources for parents, teachers, and students, concerning information on various topics from cyberbullying to cell phones. Check them out!
