These academies are intended for students who are interested in networking, database manipulation, and other related technologies. It will prepare the students for the CCNA and the Oracle Certified Associate exam. These exams will be administered at the end of the course. Students will be trained with the knowledge of networking technology, equipment, design (networking and database), installation, SQL, PL/SQL, and problem solving. The student will obtain 11 college credit hours per year upon successful completion of the course.
Prerequisite for CISCO/Oracle I : 10th grade level, strong math and reading skills.
Prerequisite for CISCO/Oracle II: successful completion of 1st year.
Prerequisite for CISCO/Oracle III: successful completion of 2nd year. This will also have to be offered as early bird.
Michael Evans came on board at SCTC during the 2005-2006 school year. Michael has been a Smyth County resident his whole life and graduated from Northwood High School. From there he attended Emory & Henry College where he graduated with his B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics. After graduation he went to work at TEDS Inc. in Atkins as a SQL support specialist. After a year of work he was presented with a systems administrator position with Professional Employment Services of Abingdon. There he managed over 150 computers and multiple networks. In the Summer of 2005 he attended the Oracle Academy at UCLA where he obtain his certification to become an Oracle Instructor. The next summer he attended classes at Southwest Community College where he obtained his certification to teach the Cisco Academy. He is currently teaching both Academies at SCTC.

A four year sequence of courses which, when combined with college preperatory mathematics and science courses in high school, introduces students to the scope, rigor and discipline of engineering and engineering technology prior to entering college. The courses are Introduction to Engineering Design, Digital Electronics, Principles of Engineering, Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Engineering Design and Development.
