Building Trades

Construction of various projects, such as, garden sheds and storage areas, are on going projects. On site cabinetry, plumbing and remodeling projects for SCTC gives every one an opportunity to experience the construction world.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Learn the proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment with safety in mind at all times.
Estimate material and time for a given project.
Recognize blueprints, symbols and measurements.
Follow instructions and work as an individual or with a group in order to accomplish a given task, projects and problems associated with the building trades industry.
Identify materials and their proper use.
Read and interpret information for technical use in the building trades.
Safety regulations to be honored at all times.

Closely related to the building trades classes is the AUTOCAD classes dealing with blueprint interpretation, design and computer graphics. WELDERS are also used in the construction industry as many of our commercial buildings are steel structures.ELECTRICAL classes offered at SCTC support building maintenance, motor controls, electronics and residential wiring.
