Cosmetology Course Description

Cosmetology is an 18-month program licensed by the Virginia State Board of Cosmetology. It is open to qualified high school seniors and high school graduates. Upon completion of this program, students are eligible to take the Virginia State Board of Cosmetology Examination for licensing as a Professional Hairstylist and Nail Technician.

Practical and theoretical competency is established in all aspects of cosmetology including:

Professional ethics
Personal grooming
Salon health and safety
Hairstyling
Perming
Chemical hair relaxing
Hair coloring and lightening
Nail technology
Skin care and makeup
Thermal styling and pressing
Salon Management

Course Objectives

Develop profiecient dexterity in cosmetic work
acquire knowledge and understanding of theory related to cosmetology
Develop a professional work ethic worthy of public confidence
Develop personal grooming and hygiene
Develop good work habits and people skills

Salary Range

Full time- $17,500 - 40,000

Class Times

AM Class	9:00 - 11:40 a.m.	Cosmetology I
PM Class	12:20 - 3:00 a.m.	Cosmetology II
