Smyth County Schools is proud to celebrate an outstanding student achievement at the state level. A Northwood Middle School student has been named the winner of the State DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Essay Contest for her age and grade division.
The DAR Essay Contest encourages students to explore important themes in American history while developing strong research and writing skills. Competing against students from across Virginia, this accomplishment reflects not only exceptional writing ability, but also a deep understanding of historical content and critical thinking.
